Young people should lead the war on drugs

THE war being waged by the drug barons against young people is ruthless and ceaseless and has made the institutions of State responsible for law and order look seriously inadequate to contain, never mind overcome, these evil people in the short to medium term.

It is high time the authorities invited the many talented young people who have excelled in various fields of endeavour to lead a nationwide campaign against drug abuse.

I agree with the Taoiseach’s suggestion that the homes of some affluent people who abuse drugs at parties should be targeted by the gardaí. After all, it is the drug purchasers who fund the forces of evil and deserve the full rigours of the law.
