Derry riots ‘a replay of the early 1970s’

ABOUT three years ago, a few of us met very senior police officers and told them that Northern Ireland was now entering into a replay of what happened in the late 1960s early ‘70s.

We told them the earliest signs of public unrest were seen in the painting of our red Royal Mail postboxes green, and the burning of Orange Halls.

Our views were dismissed as crazy.
