The garda authorities’ rationale for the decision is that allowing members of the force, in this case, to wear turbans would undermine the public’s perception that it is impartial.

This simply does not stand up. Whatever members of the public may feel about the gardaí, it will not be affected one iota by whether a member of the force is wearing a cap or a turban.
