THERE are only five known non-Catholics out of 166 TDs in the Dáil Sectarianism is alive and kicking in the Republic — not just in the North.

There’s no reason why people from different religious backgrounds, or none, can’t participate fully in our democracy.

The claim that the Republic is 95% Catholic is a myth. It’s obvious we live in a diverse society with many people from non-Catholic faiths and different churches popping up all over the country.
