I FAIL to understand the huge fuss over Aer Lingus’s move to Belfast when Shannon is superbly serviced by Ryanair which includes three London airports in its extensive destination menu.

The hue-and-cry brigade would do better to look instead at the damage the Government has stored up for the economy while buying its way back into power.

It has created a two-tier workforce — those in private enterprise whose jobs depend on market conditions, and a huge elite of overpaid, unionised public sector workers in safe, pensionable jobs. This will have untold consequences as the boom turns to bust in the coming years.
