Public transport the answer to road carnage
Catching the tail-end of comments regarding road safety on Today FM’s The Last Word (July 2), the usual suspects — drink-driving, boy racers and the poor condition of some country roads — were reiterated by callers as the primary causes of road deaths.
As I approached a two-mile tailback recently at the Jack Lynch tunnel, consisting mostly of driver-only vehicles, an O2 advert for office functions on mobile phones asked: ‘Tired of being stuck in traffic? Why not change the way you work?’
