Why are rail travellers kept in the dark?

I CAN accept that occasionally, like Monday morning last, there will be unavoidable disruption to DART services caused by factors outside the control of Irish Rail.

But I can’t accept the total disregard of customers shown by the company once these disruptions happen.

Having been delayed for several minutes on the approach to Connolly station in Dublin, yet again I and my fellow-passengers were left stew in ignorance inside our carriages once we arrived at the platform.
