Cheers and jeers for giants and pygmies

THE vulgar display of celebration witnessed at the count centre for Dublin South East, where political goliath Michael McDowell failed to retain his seat, was matched by the equally vulgar display when political pygmies, especially in Tipperary, the west and north-west were elected.

Shame on us.

All four results have made Dáil Eireann a poorer and less effective chamber.
