Tax liability is the issue Bertie should address

THE Taoiseach, or somebody acting for him, appears to have successfully managed to change a story about receiving money from businessmen to a story about how it was spent, and who released information from the tribunal.

Bertie Ahern has also managed to damn all his political opponents by implying, without a shred of published evidence, that one or more of them may be guilty of trying to discredit him by releasing this information.

And all this has taken the limelight away from the fact that he has made a settlement with the tax authorities which seems to imply he didn’t pay his tax when he should have, and this when he held public office and hoped to hold a higher public office.
