Ban harmful morning-after pills

THE Irish Pharmaceutical Union has called for the morning-after pill to be made available from chemists without a prescription.

Ban harmful morning-after pills

While morning-after pills can operate as an emergency contraceptive by preventing or delaying ovulation, they also can and often do act as abortifacients. As such, they should be banned, as they violate the right to life of the unborn child.

Women seeking medical advice or help have the right to know the nature and effects of any medicines or chemicals they take. They should be made aware that the morning-after pill can, in some instances, operate as an abortifacient by affecting the lining of the womb to prevent implantation of the embryo.
