Students disenfranchised at home and away

MUCH as I would love to vote, when I enquired about postal voting — considering May 24 is during my exam period where I study in Scotland — I was told I need to be attending an “educational institution in the State”. What difference does this make to my right to vote?

My time in Scotland, and the course I am doing — international relations — has informed me more of the inadequacies of the Irish Government than I could have imagined — and that opinion has just been reinforced.
