Paddy’s Day politicians

MANY Government members are leaving the country ahead of St Patrick’s Day in a supposed effort to harness international goodwill towards Ireland. So why have we had so many recent announcements of job losses if there is such goodwill towards us?

These trips also add to already excessive CO2 emissions. The Government’s attitude is to pay for carbon credits instead of actively reducing emissions.

A politician thinks of the next election (or junket); a statesman thinks of the next generation. Here’s hoping we have less politicians and more able statesmen in the future.
