Winners’ farewell

IT was a fittingly sunny Sunday in Dublin to bid farewell to the old Lansdowne Road.

I have had many of the happiest days of my life sitting there, in wind and rain and (not so infrequently as one might suppose) sunshine, watching teams like Palmerston, Old Wesley, Skerries and also the great teams in their day that turned out for Wanderers and (I have to admit) UCD.

We take our leave on a note of unprecedented optimism with victories over South Africa and Australia. In our temporary move to Croke Park, let us take the best of our past with us.
