Murder is murder

HENRY GUTERMAN (Irish Examiner letters, September 20) believes that in war there is no such thing as murder.

Murder is murder

In the recent war on Lebanon, Israel attacked hospitals, ambulances, convoys of refugees, UN observers, farm workers, children huddling in bomb shelters. Anyone in fact who either moved or tried desperately not to move.

This was murder.

Now the invasion of Lebanon is over, Israel continues to kill Palestinians — more than 200 residents in Gaza in the last few months.

We must not be afraid to call murder by its name — not just for honesty’s sake, but for the sake of building a just and lasting peace.
