HEALTH Minister Mary Harney’s statement that she wanted to see the Leas Cross nursing home report published “as soon as possible,” unfortunately would appear to lack the sense of urgency it implies.

Public concern about what took place there demands that the independent report by Professor Des O’Neill, commissioned by the Health Service Executive (HSE), be treated with urgency.

Having submitted his report last May to the HSE, it might be reasonable to suggest that five months was a reasonable time for those who were criticised to respond, and their legal advisors to tender advice.
