Blaming Israelis the easiest thing to do

IN response to Eilish Moloney’s letter headlined ‘No way back for a child to a country that was once at peace’ (Irish Examiner letters, August 8), I suppose her story was very touching for those who want to sympathise — but her words didn’t touch my heart.

Blaming Israelis the easiest thing to do

I am an Irish-Israeli citizen who has been living underground for the last month while an average of 180 rockets a day pound the northern towns of Israel, deliberately killing and maiming innocent people and ruining our country.

Half a million residents have been displaced and another half a million are living underground.

What disturbs me most about Ms Moloney’s letter is that she doesn’t have the courage to condemn Hezbollah or the Lebanese government for not taking control of its own country. The government there should have dismantled Hezbollah as it had agreed to do in accordance with a UN resolution in 2000 when Israel pulled back to the international border.

Ms Moloney blames Israel only because that is the easiest thing to do. Maybe she has loss of memory and doesn’t remember who started this war, or maybe she is afraid to condemn Hezbollah because one day she intends to return to her beloved Lebanon.

I wonder how long these Muslim fanatics can succeed in attacking Israel and then cry foul when Israel retaliates.

One thing seems sure, as long as they have the support of people like Ms Moloney there will never be peace and stability in the Middle East.

If she really wants to do something I suggest she dries her tears and condemns those who must be condemned for the future of all mankind.
