Walking back to healthiness

I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree with Dr Cormac Murphy’s view (letters, July 25) that parents should shoulder blame for the increase in child obesity.

Supermarket trolleys stacked with junk food and fizzy drinks are a regular sight. And the decline in traffic across Ireland during the school holidays highlights the number of children who make their way to school not through the fields, but through the air-conditioned haze of a modern motor.

I have a suggestion. Instead of taking your walk in the evening, why not kill two birds with the one stone and walk with your children to school in the morning?
