Law is the best remedy

MARTIN CULLEN and Gay Byrne are wrong about people having accidents because they do not listen to advice.

Law is the best remedy

Offering advice is a waste of breath. Driver behaviour improved when penalty points were originally introduced. When the authorities were seen to be welshing on enforcement, however, they were treated with contempt.

Recently I witnessed two drivers passing out a line of traffic doing at least 100 km-h within 100 yards of Mr Byrne’s home. Both cars were large, new and driven, I assume, by pillars of society. Their driving, however, was totally irresponsible. If anyone happened to be coming in the opposite direction there would have been a horrific crash.
