Road conditions a large part of the problem

THE blame placed on individual drivers for the road carnage by Transport Minister Martin Cullen (Irish Examiner, July 12) seems simplistic and takes attention away from other factors the Government can do something about.

Yes, individual drivers do cause accidents, but it has always seemed odd to me that some roads are safe while others have high accident rates.

Driver training, road conditions, including design and maintenance, seem to be ignored in the published data.
