Amendment allowed for human cloning

MY colleague Avril Doyle MEP (Irish Examiner letters, May 24) says that my letter (May 22) was misleading in that the amendment she co-sponsored would not allow EU funding for human cloning.

A close look at her amendment shows that it does indeed allow funding for human cloning:

“2. The following fields of research shall not be financed under this Framework Programme: research activities aiming at human cloning for reproductive purposes”.
