Nuclear facts needed

THE call from the Oireachtas joint committee on Communications, Marine and Natural Resources for a public debate on nuclear energy is to be welcomed.

The debate so far has not been as open-minded or as well-informed as it could be. The decision on whether to go the nuclear route is a momentous one, and it deserves the closest possible consideration of all the facts regarding the potential risks and benefits.
