I WAS disgusted to see the Australian prime minister addressing what seemed to be a half-empty Dáil chamber on Tuesday last.

Never mind the usual few abstentionists scrambling for the high moral slagheap (and the TV cameras), this was an insult to a great nation with which we have such close familial and historical ties.

Sorry, Mr Howard. Sorry, Australia.
