Passengers lose in game of monopoly

I FREQUENTLY use the train, especially the Cork/Dublin service, which I find to be the best of a bad lot.

It has been long starved of investment and it suffers from a monopolist’s sloppiness indicating that the state is the worst manager of any business — if, that is, it is to be run as a business and not as a train-set hobby.

However, I have always been treated with courtesy by Iarnród Éireann staff.
