THE media abuse visited upon the family of the late Liam Lawlor the weekend before last was, frankly, disgusting.

In fairness, no one in the media has sought to stand over what happened and relatively speedy apologies have been forthcoming from the main offenders.

At the same time, however, there have been some endeavours from within the media to seek to explain or put in context (and thereby partially excuse) the running of those stories.
