Ageing population throws up unprecedented questions about care

THE future is always difficult for politics. It is even more difficult for media. The consideration of long-term issues does not sit well with the to and fro of political competition, especially in the run-up to an election.

However, there are a number of challenges this country faces in the next couple of decades about which significant decisions will have to be made by whoever is elected to be our next government.

It is important, therefore, that over the next year these issues get sufficient media and political attention to enable voters to make an informed choice on who they want to make these decisions.
