Prices soaring - Will it be different this time?

EVEN if it was never easy to put a roof over your head it was always more challenging to buy a home no matter how modest your ambitions were. 

Despite that, Irish people who could afford to buy a home were culturally attuned to do so. Figures released this weekend show how very difficult that challenge has become for most people, especially those who wish to live in our cities.

House prices rose by an average of 4.3% since Christmas and by an eye-watering 8.7% in Dublin.
