The year was 1964 and a group of Ford staff paid a visit to Henry Ford’s old home in Dearborn, Michigan, Tom Cavanagh recalls.

The mansion, which is currently being restored, was called Fair Lane, after the street where Henry’s adoptive Cork grandfather lived.

The picture belongs to Tom Cavanagh, from Fermoy in North Cork, who is on the extreme right on the front row. Tom, who is retired, had Ford dealerships in Charleville and Fermoy, and also the CAB in Blackrock in Cork city.
