Memories are made with this photo of Cork Ford dealers outside Henry Ford's house [video]
The mansion, which is currently being restored, was called Fair Lane, after the street where Henry’s adoptive Cork grandfather lived.
The picture belongs to Tom Cavanagh, from Fermoy in North Cork, who is on the extreme right on the front row. Tom, who is retired, had Ford dealerships in Charleville and Fermoy, and also the CAB in Blackrock in Cork city.
He recalls: “The trip to the US was a reward for the main tractor dealers in Ireland and the highlight was our visit to the magnificent house.”
Among the other people above are Ford Cork employees Jack Fives, Denis Creedon, Gerry McGovern and Eddie Nolan. Eddie went on to be Chairman and Managing Director of Henry Ford & Son Ltd and retired in 2001 after 42 years’ service with Ford. He passed away in 2013.
