THE STUDENTS
The result is UrYearbook, a recently-launched business based in Cork which allows imminent graduates to personalise and purchase a special yearbook to mark their exit from third-level college.
Since set-up in October of last year, Jayne and David have built up quite a following in UCC — as well as plenty of advance orders — and once this year’s batch of yearbooks leave the presses are planning to expand to colleges elsewhere in the country.
“We got accepted into a project in UCC, called Ignite, which is an incubation centre for 10 companies,” Jayne explains. “We wanted to put a spin on things so we set up a website for the yearbook — you sign in and create your profile and upload your photographs with your friends and yourself and you can keep taking photos four weeks before we go to print.”
Retailing at €40 per book, the publications are set to take advantage of the eternal appetite for nostalgia and souvenirs. “It’s a new idea and hasn’t been done before here and everyone has been fantastic.”
