A man in his 30s is due in court today following the seizure of more than €7,000 worth of illegal drugs and a 3D-printed firearm during a search in East Cork on Friday.

The operation was conducted by members of the Cork County Divisional Drugs Unit and Serious Crime Unit, under Operation Tara.

As part of the investigation, gardaí conducted a search at a residential location in the Ballymacoda area of East Cork on Friday, September 4.

Approximately €4,800 worth of cannabis and €2,400 worth of cocaine were seized, as well as a 3D-printed firearm.

The seized drugs and firearm are now subject to analysis.

A man, aged in his 30s, was arrested in connection with the investigation and detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a garda station in the Cork area.

He has since been charged and is scheduled to appear before Dungarvan District Court at approximately 10.30am today.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said investigations are ongoing.
