Warm conditions to continue as highs of up to 25C expected

Warm conditions are set to continue for the rest of the week as Met Éireann says sunny spells, dry weather and highs of up to 25C are expected. 

The high-pressure system, which has dominated Ireland for the last week, will continue with the odd spot of light rain or drizzle in the north and northwest.

Monday started the day with sunshine in the south, which will become more widespread through the afternoon and evening. 

It will remain cloudier in the northwest. 

Temperatures will stay between 19C and 25C, with the warmest of those in the south. Parts of Cork City will reach 26C later in the day. 

It will be dry then for most on Monday night with clear spells; however, it will be cloudier in the north and northwest with the odd spot of light rain or drizzle before it spreads southwards through the night. 

There will be some mist patches as well, with lows of 10C to 14C set for the evening.

Tuesday will be a similar day to Monday, starting off cloudy for much of the country with the best of the early sunshine further south. 

Sunny spells will become more widespread through the afternoon, but it will be cloudier in the northwest. 

Highs of 19C to 24C are set for the day, with the warmest weather in the south. 

It will be cooler near the northwestern and northern coasts. 

It will be a dry night on Tuesday, with clear spells. Further north will see cloud, light rain or drizzle. Lows of 10C to 13C are set for the night. 

Wednesday will once again see similar conditions in the morning compared to the day before, with highs of 19C to 23C set for the day.

It will continue on the same path for the country on Wednesday night, with cooler temperatures expected later on.

Thursday and Friday will see similar weather conditions in store with temperatures ranging between 18C and 25C across the two days. 

It will be cooler near the Atlantic coasts, while the south and southeast see the warmer conditions. 

Looking ahead to the weekend, the national weather forecaster has said more mixed conditions will come into effect as the high pressure influence wanes, with some showers and rain expected. However, sunny spells are in store for the south and east.
