Man, 20s, dies in early morning crash in Co Kerry

A man in his 20s has died following a crash involving a car in Co Kerry in the early hours of Wednesday morning, 

The incident happened at around 2.20am on the N72 near Calfmount, Barraduff. 

The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

His body has since been taken to University Hospital Kerry, where an autopsy will take place in due course. The coroner has been notified. 

The road is currently closed for gardaí to carry out a technical examination of the scene. 

Local diversions are in place. Motorists travelling between Rathmore and Killarney are asked to travel via Glenflesk.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed this collision to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N72 near Calfmount, Barraduff, Co. Kerry on Wednesday June 24 2026 between 1.45am and 2.20am are asked to make this available to investigating gardaí.

"Investigations are ongoing," a garda spokesperson said.
