A man in his 30s has been arrested after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in Cork city on Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 8.40am on the Kinsale Road in Togher.

Gardaí attended the scene, where the driver, a man in his 30s, was arrested and taken to a garda station in Cork city.

He is currently being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

It is understood that, while the pedestrian was struck by the vehicle, they did not suffer serious injuries.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána told the Irish Examiner that no further information is available at this time as “investigations are ongoing”.
