Funeral details announced for Limerick man who died in workplace incident

Funeral details have been announced for a young man who died following a workplace incident in Athea, west Limerick.

Brendan Brosnan, aged in his early 20s, from Templeglantine, Co Limerick, died on Monday following a workplace accident.

His removal will take place on Saturday at the Church of the Most Holy Trinity in Templeglantine, arriving for Requiem Mass at 11am. Interment will take place afterwards in the adjoining Reilig na Tríonóide cemetery.

The young man was working on renovations to a derelict house when the incident occurred.

It is understood a wall fell on top of him during the renovations.

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has launched an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.

Brendan has been remembered as a "standout person" who always had a smile on his face.

"Brendan was a standout person who always had a smile on his face. So many great memories with him that will always be cherished. Deepest sympathies to his family at this difficult time. May he rest in peace," someone wrote in tribute.

Another person wrote: "Heartfelt condolences to Catherine, Brendan, Christopher, Eoin, Sinead, Katie, Aoife, Ciara, Megan and Evan and all the extended Brosnan and Delee families. We are truly heartbroken to hear of the tragic passing of your lovely Brendan. He always had a smile on his face. A hardworking and genuine lad, taken far too soon. Rest in peace Brendan."
