There will be extended sunny spells to enjoy this week in Munster, before the weather becomes more unsettled ahead of the weekend.

According to Met Éireann, mist and fog patches will clear later this morning. 

Today will be a mostly dry day, although isolated showers are possible. There will be some cloud at first but sunny spells will improve as the day goes on, with highest temperatures of 15 to 19C with a light northerly or variable breeze.

Tuesday will be dry with sunny spells and a light to moderate east to northeast breeze, with temperatures again reaching 16 to 19C. It is a similar forecast for Wednesday; dry and sunny, with highest temperatures of 13 to 18C, again warmest in the west as a moderate to fresh east to northeast wind persists.

Later this week

The forecaster said there is uncertainty in the forecast for Thursday, but it is possible that showery rain in the south and southwest will spread northeastwards. Highest temperatures of 11 to 13C in the southwest and 14 to 17C elsewhere, with a moderate to fresh easterly wind, easing later.

Friday will see a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers, turning heavy at times. Highest temperatures of 13 to 17C with light to moderate southerly winds, becoming westerly.

Meanwhile, there will be mixed weather for the Bank Holiday Weekend, with some showers but also some drier and brighter spells.
