While thousands are expected to line the streets of Limerick for the St Patrick’s Day parade, viewers will be able to watch remotely for the first time.
Both the Limerick City St Patrick’s Day Parade and the International Band Championship Parade will stream online, allowing viewers anywhere in the world to tune in.
From March 13 to March 17, Limerick will host celebrations under the theme ‘Legends of Limerick’, honouring the people, stories and traditions that make the county unique.
Brendan Troy, senior executive office, tourism, enterprise and trade at Limerick City and County Council, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to introduce livestreaming for both the International Band Championship and the Limerick City St. Patrick’s Day Parade for the first time in 2026. This initiative will allow people across the world to tune in and share in the excitement - whether it’s someone living abroad who wants to see their hometown celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, grandparents watching to spot a grandchild in the parade, or friends and family supporting a band or community group taking part.”
This year, Ireland’s national women’s marathon champion, Ava Crean, will serve as Grand Marshal of the city parade.
At just 19, she became the youngest-ever Irish women’s marathon champion at the 2025 Irish Life Dublin Marathon, recording a personal best of 2:34:12 and finishing sixth overall.
A total of 14 parades will take place across Limerick on March 15 and March 17.
The city parade will depart from O’Connell Avenue at 12pm on March 17.
Parades in Castleconnell, Hospital and Rathkeale will also start at 12pm, while the Mountcollins parade will begin at 12.30pm.
At 2.30pm on March 17, parades will take place in Askeaton and Bruff, while Castlemahon and Ballylanders will begin at 3pm. The Abbeyfeale parade will start at 4pm.
Meanwhile, on March 15, the Broadford parade will begin at 12pm, the Kilmallock parade at 1pm, and the Newcastle West parade at 3pm.
In the city, the 54th International Band Championship will take place at midday on March 15, starting from the Crescent on O’Connell Street.
An after-party will follow the championship, with a free open-air concert in Arthur’s Quay Park.
