As for the general forecast for Friday and this weekend, Met Éireann says today will be mainly dry and cloudy, with just limited bright or sunny spells. The odd patch of drizzle and mist is also possible. Highest temperatures will range from 12C to 16C.
Conditions will remain largely cloudy and dry overnight, apart from the odd patch of drizzle and mist. Outbreaks of rain will move into western and southwestern coasts around dawn, while temperatures on Friday night will fall back to around 9C to 13C.
Saturday is forecast to be "a dull and breezy day", with scattered outbreaks of rain in the west and southwest at first, gradually spreading northeastwards across the country through the day. The rain will then turn heavier in the south and southwest by Saturday evening. Highest temperatures on Saturday will range from 12C to 15C.
Saturday night will be wet and blustery with heavy and persistent rain becoming widespread early in the night, with thundery bursts and spot flooding possible. Rain will clear from the west and southwest by morning, however. Temperatures on Saturday night will range from 10C to 13C in fresh to strong and gusty southeasterly winds, moderating and veering southwest in Munster and Connacht by morning.
On Sunday, Met Éireann says "heavy and persistent rain" will develop in the north and east at first, with further thundery falls and spot flooding possible. The rain will clear northeastwards through the morning, followed by sunshine and showers from the southwest, some of which may turn heavy. Highest temperatures on Sunday will range from 14C to 17C.
On Sunday night, clear spells and showers are forecast for most areas, though a longer spell of rain will move into the south and southwest later in the night. Temperatures on Sunday night will range from 7C to 10C.
