Dundrum House Golf and Leisure Resort in Co Tipperary is to cease trading with immediate effect.

The hotel, which is operated by Brogan Capital Ventures, has informed the 48 employees, who now face the prospect of losing their jobs.

An assessment by the new board of the company has shown that the business is currently unable to pay its debts as they fall due.

Therefore, the restaurant, bar, golf course, driving range, and leisure centre at the resort will now close.

However, an IPAS centre on the grounds, which is operated by a Spanish company called Utmasta Limited, will not be affected by the decision.

Brogan Capital Ventures is now set to begin a 30-day collective redundancy consultation process with staff at the venue.

In a statement, a spokesperson said: "The company very much regrets the adverse impact of this decision on its valued employees, golf and leisure centre members, customers, suppliers, the local community and other stakeholders.

"However, it is unavoidable given the state of the company's financial affairs."

Dundrum House Hotel has long established itself as a well-known luxury hotel and golf resort.

The resort itself is surrounded by acres of green lawns and forests, stone walls and luxury chalets.

The village of Dundrum is a short distance from the tourist town of Cashel.
