The lifeboat arrived on scene at 2.25pm and the crew quickly established a tow line.

A sailor has been rescued from a yacht off the Waterford coast that was at risk of being blown ashore.

Ballycotton RNLI launched just before 2pm on Tuesday following a call for assistance from the skipper of a 14-metre yacht, which had encountered difficulties due to strong onshore winds around one and a half miles from Ram Head.
