A motorcyclist, aged in his 40s, has been airlifted to hospital following a two-vehicle collision in Co Clare on Sunday.

The crash, involving a car and a motorbike, occurred around 12:30pm at Killourney on the R460 between Tubber and Gort.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, was airlifted to University Hospital Galway for treatment of serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the car was uninjured.

The road was closed for a technical examination, but has since reopened.

Gardaí are now appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.

In a statement, a Garda spokesperson said: "Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 12:00pm and 12:40pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Ennis Garda Station on 065 6848100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.

Investigations are ongoing.
