Gardaí appeal after pedestrian injured in Cork motorbike crash; man released from custody

An elderly pedestrian remains in a serious condition in hospital after he was hit by a motorbike being driven by suspects fleeing a crime scene.
Gardaí are investigating a number of linked incidents that occurred in Cork City on Friday, including criminal damage, and the seizing of a suspected firearm.
It's believed two suspects were fleeing an incident when a male pedestrian, aged in his 60s, was struck by the vehicle at approximately 6.10pm on Churchfield Rd.
About 30 minutes earlier, serious criminal damage was caused at a property in the Shanakiel area of the city.
The man in his 20s was arrested soon after and was detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939 at a garda station in the Southern Region.
He has since been released from garda custody.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information in relation to these incidents or road users with video footage to contact them.
