Some aspects of traditional graduation balls — such as bright lights and loud noises — can be intimidating for autistic people, so one family, helped by AsIAm, has set up The Gold Tie Debs

David Hickey and his mum Theresa Hickey from Frankfield in Cork. When David said he'd love to attend a graduation ball, they set about organising one tailored to autistic people, with the help of AsIAm.

Bright lights and loud noises can make ‘grads’ or ‘debs’ nights intimidating for young people who have autism, so one Cork mother has organised a sensory appropriate event for her son.

Last year, David Hickey, from Frankfield, told his mother, Theresa, that he would love to attend a ball.
