Rucksack belonging to missing climber found on Kerry beach
Sebastian Jaworski was last seen at the summit of Mount Brandon on Sunday, June 23..
A search for a missing hiker last seen on a Kerry mountain 10 days ago is now concentrating on the coastline after his personal property was found on a beach.
A rucksack belonging to Sebastian Jaworski, 46, was found on Banna beach in Kerry.
The beach is across the bay from Mount Brandon, where Mr Jaworski was last seen on Sunday, June 23.
The search at Mount Brandon has now been stood down.
A statement from gardaí said: “Following the discovery of personal property on Banna beach, the search operation for a missing male hiker in his 40s is now being concentrated along the coastline and the search on Mount Brandon has, at this time, been stood down.
“An Garda Síochána continues to search with assistance from other agencies, including the Coast Guard, along the coast of the Brandon Point area of the Dingle Peninsula, Co. Kerry.”
Mr Jaworski, who is understood to be from Poland, has been living in Cork.
The experienced mountaineer was last seen near the summit of Mount Brandon. He was wearing shorts with a dark top and was carrying a large rucksack.
The alarm was raised on Monday, June 24, when Mr Jaworski did not show up for work.
On June 25, gardaí and members of Kerry Mountain Rescue Team launched a search operation, with assistance from SARDA, the Dingle Coast Guard, and Coast Guard Helicopter R115.
Mr Jaworski's car was located in Faha car park close to Mount Brandon on Tuesday.
