The funeral details for the six-year-old boy found dead in a car in Waterford last week have been announced.

Matthew Healy died in hospital on Friday after he was found unresponsive on the outskirts of Dunmore East. GardaĂ­ arrested a woman at the scene.

Matthew's body will be reposing at his home in Watergrasshill, Cork from 5pm to 8pm on Monday and Tuesday.

His requiem mass will be held in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Watergrasshill on Wednesday at midday, followed by a private service in the Island Crematorium Ringaskiddy.

His death notice reads that he will be "sadly missed by his heartbroken Dad James, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family, neighbours and friends".

A woman, aged in her late 30s, was arrested after the remains of the child were discovered at Rathmoylan Cove shortly after midnight on Friday. She was in a distressed state when arrested and required medical attention over the weekend.

Gardaí have yet to formally interview the woman. 

The results of a preliminary postmortem examination on Matthew were inconclusive. However, gardaĂ­ suspect he was suffocated.

Counselling support will be provided to classmates, friends, and family of Matthew. 

A National Educational Psychological Service (NEPS) psychologist was onsite at Faithlegg National School in Cheekpoint on Friday to advise management and staff on how best to assist pupils in the wake of the tragedy.

A vigil was held over the weekend in Waterford City in memory of the six-year-old.
