Gardaí in Tipperary have requested the State Pathologist after the body of a man was discovered in a house in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

There are indications that the man may have been the victim of some sort of assault, but officers are awaiting the result of a post mortem for confirmation.

The body was found in a house in Ballycrana, Kilross, which is near the border with Limerick.

Gardaí are trying to establish if there was a social gathering in the house on St Stephen’s night and, if so, who was in attendance.

They are also conducting inquiries into the deceased, with early reports that he may be a foreign national.
