Man arrested after suspected stabbing in Skibbereen

The scene remains sealed off while investigations are ongoing

A man has been hospitalised after a suspected stabbing in Skibbereen on Thursday morning.

Gardaí were called to scene at the Casteltownsend Road near the Regal Estate in the town shortly after 11.15am.

A male in his 50s found at the scene with an apparent stab wound was transferred from the scene to Cork University Hospital for treatment. 

His injures are described as serious but are not thought to be life-threatening.

Another male in his 50s was arrested and is currently detained at a Garda station in County Cork.

The scene is currently being technically examined.

Investigations are ongoing.
