Limerick murder trial shown CCTV footage of deceased in the hours before he dies
Lee Slattery was seen on CCTV walking and cycling around the streets of Moyross in Limerick in the last hours of his life.
CCTV recordings of 25-year-old Lee Slattery walking and cycling around the streets of Moyross in Limerick in the last hours of his life were shown to the judge and jury at his murder trial at the Central Criminal Court sitting in Cork on Friday.
32-year-old Kurt Ryan of Moylish Crescent, Limerick, denies the single charge of murdering 25-year-old Lee Slattery on the grounds of Delmege House, known locally as the Dallies in May 2010, in the trial before Ms Justice Eileen Creedon and a jury of seven women and five men.
One of the first images in a series of 73 clips put together for the trial was a photograph of the late Mr Slattery’s black and white top and blue tracksuit jacket which were on his body when his remains were discovered.
Detective Garda Ronan Humphries was led through today’s evidence by prosecution barrister Jane Horgan-Jones, the evidence consisting of maps and CCTV put together in a montage by Lisa Collins for An Garda Síochána.
The first main series of slides concerned the movements of Lee Slattery and persons and vehicles of interest as well as mobile phones and telecommunications of interest covering a 12-hour period from approximately 2.30pm on the afternoon of Thursday, May 27, 2010, and 2.30am the following morning.
The montage would also show persons and vehicles of interest from 2.30am until after 5am that morning, Ms Horgan-Jones said.
One of the pieces of CCTV shows the accused man parking and getting out of his car at the Topaz (now Circle K) garage in the area and walking towards the service station.
The late Lee Slattery is seen walking on to the forecourt and meeting Kurt Ryan before both of them walk to Mr Ryan’s car, the accused man getting into the front driver’s seat and Mr Slattery getting into the back seat. The car is then driven away.
The timing of this was given as 11.43pm on May 27, 2010. Approximately 10 minutes later, Lee Slattery is seen walking through housing areas, as he is again almost an hour later, in a subsequent clip.
The last video of the late Lee Slattery shown to the jury today was timed at three minutes before 2am on May 28, 2010, and he is seen walking across a grassy area and around a corner at Cosgrave Park.
The trial resumes on Monday, October 12.
