Some 5.5kg of suspected cannabis with an estimated street value of €110,000 was seized from the Dublin city centre premises by Revenue officers on Monday as part of an intelligence-led operation.

A man is being questioned in connection with a €110,000 drug seizure at the Dublin offices of radio group Bauer Media.

Bauer Media, Ireland’s largest commercial radio group, including Newstalk, Today FM, Red FM, 98FM, Spin 1038, Spin South West, iRadio, and Beat, as well as the Off The Ball podcast and sports brand.

Newstalk and Today FM broadcast from the group’s Dublin city offices at Marconi House near St Stephen’s Green in Dublin 2.

Approximately 5.5kg of suspected cannabis, with an estimated street value of €110,000, was seized from the Dublin city centre premises by Revenue officers on Monday as part of an intelligence-led operation.

The drugs were sent to the Bauer offices by post, it is understood.

However, the package was flagged after drugs were detected, prompting a joint operation between Revenue and gardaí.

Gardaí arrested a man in his 30s in connection with the investigation. He is being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

The joint operation was carried out by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, the DMR South Central Divisional Drug Unit, and Revenue’s Customs Service.

The seized drugs are now being analysed by Forensic Science Ireland.

Investigations are ongoing, gardaí said in a statement.

Bauer Media has been contacted for comment.
