A man found “slumped on a chair” in a Cork pizza shop was so intoxicated he could hardly speak, the district court has heard.
Court presenter Sergeant Trish O’Sullivan told Macroom District Court that gardaà attended Apache Pizza at Main Street, Macroom, Co. Cork at 9.40pm on the night of October 19, 2025.
A man — identified as Andrew Goulding, aged 45 of Main Street, Macroom — was sitting “slumped on a chair” in what appeared to be a highly intoxicated state.Â
When gardaà tried to speak to Mr Goulding, the court heard he was “unable to speak properly” and had to be assisted to stand up.
The court heard that gardaĂ feared for Mr Goulding’s safety and he was arrested and taken to Macroom Garda Station.Â
The court was told that Mr Goulding, who represented himself in court, had three previous convictions including one for public intoxication and one for drink driving.Â
The court heard that Mr Goulding was fully co-operative.
Judge John King said: “There seems to be a bit of a theme here and the theme is alcohol.”Â
Mr Goulding said he had a problem with alcohol and had relapsed which led to the incident. He was convicted and fined €200.
