Man due in court over stabbing of garda in Dublin

A man has been charged in connection with the stabbing of a garda in Dublin city centre earlier this week and is due to appear in court on Thursday.

The incident occurred on Tuesday evening on Capel Street, where the officer was on routine patrol. He sustained puncture wounds to his side and was taken to hospital. 

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

In a statement released on Thursday morning, An Garda Síochána confirmed the man had been charged and would appear before the courts later today.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
