Cork man who admitted to assault and criminal damage to be sentenced in June

Man admitted assault causing harm to three men, causing criminal damage, and two counts of violent disorder

Evidence on the background to the case will be heard at Cork Circuit Criminal Court on June 20.

A 24-year-old man facing sentencing for assaults, criminal damage, and violent disorder at Sullivan’s Quay in Cork more than three years ago had the case against him adjourned until June 20.

Judge Helen Boyle will hear evidence on the background to the case at Cork Circuit Criminal Court on that date and impose sentence then.

Davin Jackson of Millrange, Ballincollig, Co Cork, affirmed his previously entered signed pleas of guilty in the case.

He admitted assault causing harm to three men, causing criminal damage, and two counts of engaging in violent disorder.

The charges arose out of an incident at Sullivan’s Quay, Cork, on March 6, 2022.

The criminal damage charge related to damage caused to a car belonging to another man.

In respect of two counts of violent disorder it was previously alleged in court that he attacked the owner of the car and another man and did so with two other men.

He also signed pleas of guilty to charges of assault causing harm to these two men and to a woman and that all of these assaults were captured on CCTV.

Defence barrister Alan O’Dwyer said, “He has significant issues with alcohol primarily and I would ask for a probation report.”

 Prosecution barrister Mary O’Dwyer said victim impact statements would also have to be prepared.

Judge Helen Boyle adjourned sentencing until June 20.
